Where to eat as you travel outdoor must be a problem for many people. What about it during the Barcelona vacation? There are many restaurants, such as Los Caracoles, Can Ramonet, La Bodegueta, Can Pineda, El Señor Parellada in Barcelona, which have long history and offer special and traditional local foods. Don't miss them during your Barcelona Vacation!
Last on the list is one of the city's century-old restaurants that was a favourite literary haunt. The premises housed a watchmaker's shop run by Carles Hubertz. His nephew, Federic Soler, better known as Pitarra, inherited the shop and combined his job as a watchmaker with his love of the theatre. His obsession with the arts was so great that he set up a thriving literary salon in a room at the back of his shop. The gatherings were attended by eminent figures such as the politician Valentí Almirall, the playwright Conrad Roure and King Alfonso XII, who visited before attending a performance at the Teatre Romea.
Legend has it that the playwright José Zorrilla dreamt up his character "Tenorio" during the four years he lived in this house, and that Josep Anselm Clavé wrote some of his songs here. Its tables have hosted the actor Ovidi Montllor, the artist and poet Joan Brossa, the singer-songwriter Carlos Cano and the writer Manuel Vázquez Montalbán. Momentous events are rumoured to have been decided here. These include the return to Catalonia of the Catalan president in exile, Josep Tarradellas. Can Pitarra preserves the memory of one of Catalan theatre's most entertaining and popular figures.
This bar is in the Eixample district, not far from La Pedrera, so you can't afford to miss it. The Bar Mut recaptures the essence of the classic vermut bar while offering a selection of mouthwatering tapas made from top-quality produce which have become its main calling card. As if that wasn't recommendation enough, Robert de Niro always drops by when he's in town!
