Vegas-based travelers will be able to choose from daily Grand Canyon South Rim and West Rim coach tours. People coming to the National Park from Scottsdale, Phoenix or other Arizona cities can tour the South Rim by way of Sedona.

The end of winter is here, so it's time to start thinking about the Grand Canyon bus tours that will be available for spring. After some digging around, it looks to me like these motor coach tours will be some of the best ever offered!

Grand Canyon

Speaking of the South Rim, here's a news flash: basic Grand Canyon bus tours to the South Rim now give you access to additional points of interest, including:

Grand Canyon Village

Yaki Point

Mather Point

The Rim Trail

Yavapai Point

An upgraded version adds an exciting chopper ride. Taking off from Grand Canyon National Park Airport, just outside the Park's main entrance gates, it flies from the South Rim to the North Rim and back, passing through the exhilarating Dragoon Corridor - the widest, deepest part of the entire canyon.

After pulling out of Las Vegas, West Rim motor coach tours pass by Hoover Dam and Lake Mead before leaving the main highway. An unpaved road will take you through pristine Mojave Desert wilderness. After about ten miles on this road you'll arrive at Grand Canyon West.

The basic West Rim Grand Canyon bus tour gives you up to three hours to check out various points of interest. Among others, they include Eagle Point, Guano Point (the "Bat Cave"), Hualapai Ranch, and the Indian Cultural.

Grand Canyon

For an additional charge, you can upgrade your tour to include VIP access to the internationally renowned Grand Canyon Skywalk. This "Glass Bridge" is incredible:

I have two last suggestions:

You will need to get to your pickup point at the time mentioned in the email you'll get after booking your tour. You'll also need to make sure you're wearing the right type of clothing. I have several suggestions along those lines for spring canyon bus tours:.

It's the largest glass cantilevered bridge on the planet

Construction costs totaled over $25 million (the price tag for its 40+ glass panels was over $250,000 - each!).

When you're standing at its apex, you'll be 4,000 or so feet above the canyon's floor, and 70 feet past its edge!

... there's a bus tour package available for Spring 2013 that I think is even better! Privately, in my head, I call it "The Ultimate" Grand Canyon motor coach tour. It includes the basic tour and the Skywalk upgrade, but on top of that adds a smooth-water float trip down the Colorado River - the river responsible for creating the Grand Canyon in the first place!
