Was not sure what to expect from the "best restaurant" in the canyon but after sampling a few others, El Tovar Dining Room is clearly the best place to go. offers the Grand Canyon tours guide, which may help you find the right restaurant and dining in Grand Canyon. From the overall ambiance to the food, it's head and shoulders above anything in the immediate (and distant) vicinity.

Even in the dead of winter, we had to wait 90 minutes for a table, but was well worth it. Can't even imagine what it would be like in peak season but glad to have paid a visit.

This large dining room is squished full of tables with waiters and bussers skirting swiftly around. Our service was friendly but a bit slow but I give our waitress massive props because she was a very kind older woman still on her feet doing things. Waitressing is not an easy job.

My family and I have come here a couple of times since our mini trip to the canyon. For a middle of nowhere Mexican restaurant you can't get much better than here. While it is not perfect or my any means the best Mexican food I've ever had I was surprised (in a good way) by the selection and quality.

Their house chips are warm and crispy served with a nice mild salsa. I enjoyed my mango salad with shrimp. The shrimp were a bit over cooked but the savory dressing made up for it. My mom enjoyed her combo with a beef enchilada and chile relleno. The rice tasted like it had been in a food holder a touch too long but the beans were good. My dad got the same salad as I did but with fish.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection and my mom liked her plated breakfast.
The food was decent. I enjoyed my salad with smoked salmon, it was a lot better then I was anticipating and filled me up after my 2 hour Rim walk. My mom got a salad as with chicken but I thought the salmon was a better choice since her chicken was a little dry. My dad got the Reuben and it was massive! But I think he liked it because he finished the whole thing.

Next time i'll save room for dessert because they all looked amazing!
