Paris blooms at night.Its magnificent monuments and buildings become even more beautiful when they’re cloaked in their evening illuminations.The already glowing Eiffel Tower bursts out in twinkling lights for the first 10 minutes of every hour.While simply walking around town can be an excellent night out,the city is also a treasure trove of rich nightlife offerings.There are bars and clubs from chic to shaggy,sublime theater and dance performances,top-class orchestras,and scores of cinemas and art-house cinemas.

English-language shows are rare,and comics are even more so,but a couple of long-standing gigs in town are worth a detour.At press time,the best place to go for a good giggle was“How to Become a Parisian in One Hour",a one-person show written by Olivier Giraud,a Frenchman who spent several years in the U.S.More humor is on tap at SoGymnase,Paris’s only English-language comedy club,on the fourth floor of the Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell.Enjoy stand-up and one-person shows by local expat and visiting talent from U.S.and the U.K.The WTF PARIS?comedy night is on Fridays at 8pm;British-American Comedy Night is Saturdays at 9:30pm.
